Calvin cycle II

Five – sixths of C3 molecules are used for Ru-1,5-P and only 1/6 th of C3 are used for sucrose and / or starch biosynthesis. What would happen to the Calvin cycle if more than 1/6 of C3 are used for carbohydrate biosynthesis ?

Functions of Pi – TP antiporter system :

  1. Keeps Pi level in chloroplast high enough for photophosphoryalation, why ?
  2. Maintains sucrose synthesis, how ?
  3. Supports glycolysis by supplying ATP and NADH / NADPH to cytosol , how ?
